Goran Markovic, PH.D.

Performance trainer – Osteopath – Kinesitherapist

Goran Markovic is a Professor of Kinesiology and Motor Control at the School of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, Croatia, where he heads the Laboratory for Motor Control and Human Performance. He also holds a degree in osteopathy (DO) and kinesitherapy (BSc). His primary research interests include neuromuscular and mechanical aspects of human movement and performance, acute and chronic adaptation to exercise training and disuse, and optimizing sports performance. Within these areas, he has (co)-authored more than 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 3 book chapters. His papers have been cited in peer-reviewed journals more than 1300 times. He has given lectures at more than 40 international scientific and professional meetings.

He is also a reviewer for more than 25 internationally recognized journals in the area of sports sciences and sports medicine. Since 1999, he works as a rehabilitation and performance specialist at National and International levels. He worked with (or consulted) numerous national- and international-level athletes or teams in several sports including taekwondo, soccer, volleyball, basketball, track & field, rowing, and tennis. In particular, he worked with medal winners at Summer Olympic Games, European and World Championships in Taekwondo, metal winners at the World Championships in track & field, members of the Croatian National Teams, and winners of the National Championship and National Cup in Volleyball (altogether >15 medals won at European/World/Olympic Championships). Since 2013, Dr. Markovic is the owner and director of the Sport & Rehabilitation center ‘Motus Melior’ in Zagreb, Croatia.

He and his team are specialized in prevention and conservative treatment of acute and overuse in sports, as well as in conservative treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal syndromes. His hobbies are reading and travelling.
